Valley Stream, NY (July 2, 2007) – The Nassau County Republican Committee announced today that Howard J. Kopel, a Lawrence resident, will be running for the seventh district in the Nassau County Legislature. Kopel is an attorney and Chief Executive Officer of Sutton Alliance, one of the nation’s leading providers of commercial and residential real estate transaction services.
“I am running for office because I believe that I can provide a real contribution to the county legislature,” said Kopel. “My skills and experience as an executive responsible for profitability of a business with many employees and national reach, will enable me to have a positive impact on the financial mess perpetrated by the Democrat controlled legislature. The current lack of spending discipline has caused taxes, especially in the seventh district, to spiral to shameful levels. My opponent, Jeffrey Toback, has been a consistent offender, voting for increased spending, and increased taxes at every turn during his eight year tenure.”

A member of the New York State Bar, Kopel graduated from Brooklyn Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. He and his wife, Esther, have lived in Lawrence for almost 20 years and have four children and two grandchildren.
